For many people food is an important part of the theme park experience. Disney World is a great destination for those who love their food. For those who enjoy a good down-home meal in a colonial setting, Liberty Tree Tavern is the choice for you.
Liberty Tree Tavern is located in Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom theme park. Its theme is based on a colonial manor and has rooms named after various important figures of the time period, like George and Martha Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Betsy Ross. The food is American favorites like pot roast and hamburgers. They also have a great bowl of clam chowder.
Like all Disney restaurants and particularly theme park restaurants, getting reservations can be difficult. The earlier you call the more likely you are to succeed. Disney allows you to make reservations up to 180 days in advance and gives you an additional 10 days of lead time if you're staying in one of their resorts. Don't make the mistake of thinking people don't take advantage of this fact.
Fortunately Liberty Tree Tavern is not as difficult to get an Advanced Dining Reservation (or ADR) for as many of the other restaurants on Disney property. You can usually get a reservation with a couple of weeks lead time, during a non-busy season. During heavy months, such as those during the summer, it is best not to take chances and book far in advance.
While the restaurant no longer has the character meals it once boasted, it is still a very well themed restaurant. It will be particularly appealing to those with a penchant for colonial and revolutionary time periods. The historical aspect may not be as appealing to children, but it still boasts some excellent food in a great setting. Don't forget to put this restaurant on your list.
